OUR MISSION

Our story began in the mid-1980s when destiny brought together a visionary property developer, John Fitzgerald, and psychologists Dr. Ron and Suwanti Farmer. In 1988, the first Toogoolawa Children's Home was established in Sydney to provide a second chance for teenagers who had struggled in foster care.

In 1998, the journey continued with the founding of the first Toogoolawa School. Starting with just six students, the school introduced sacred rituals, mindfulness practices, storytelling, and Values-based activities into the curriculum. As the school's positive impact became evident, it expanded to accommodate a growing number of students.

Over 25 years, Toogoolawa School earned international recognition as a place where 'love changes everything.' Our directors aspire to establish more schools based on this transformative model, with the hope of infusing more 'heart' into education systems worldwide.

Our mission at Toogoolawa is to provide a holistic and values-based education which also focuses on the well-being and character development of students. Rooted in the profound insights from Values-Based Education literature, we recognise the transformative power of education that integrates academic learning with moral and spiritual growth. We are dedicated to nurturing not just the minds but the hearts of our students, preparing them for the complexities of the modern world with resilience, kindness, and integrity.
